Disneyland Day 1 (Continued... Again...)

Okay, I am running a bit behind because I can't focus when we get home at night... but this is more of what happened on Day One in Disneyland.

Sleeping Beauty Castle at night with Christmas Decorations.  Epic.

Disneyland: Day 1 (Continued)

I have many more pictures from Day 1 to post, but I did want to post some video clips for my mom who wasn't able to come with us:

This video is a complete trip through It's a Small World.  I actually kept the seat next to me free for my mom and did video of the whole ride so she could virtually be there by watching it in Tennessee.  They switched it up for the Christmas season:

A few more video clips of Day One coming when they are finished uploading.  :)

Day Two: Or... Disneyland Day One

First of all, let's go to the best ride in the park:  Pirates of the Caribbean!

Wait... what?!  It's CLOSED?!  Oh, it's temporary... phew.  I was worried we weren't going to be able to see it on our vacation.  Wait... it doesn't reopen until Thanksgiving?  NOOOOOOO!!!!  That's the day we're driving home!  :(

Epic sad face.

At least we can see the Haunted Mansion while we're in New Orleans Square.  What?  They changed it?  It's all cartoony and full of Nightmare Before Christmas stuff?  NOOOOOOOO!!!!
:sigh:

Well, at least it's not hot... because being in hot weather is... wait... was that a rain drop?  Hang on... GET YOUR PONCHO'S OUT!  IT'S A NOR'EASTER!  TYPHOOOON!!!!

Wow... it hasn't rained this hard in Los Angeles since... oh... the last time we were in Disneyland.

I'm not going to let miserable weather spoil this trip.  From now on, every post is going to be positive with pictures of the GREAT things we got to do.  Until then...

<whine>

Long story short -- and the best advice I can give for a trip to Disneyland:  Don't just get a 1-day pass.  You have to do at LEAST 3 days -- and preferably 5.

Day One: The Road Trip

So we got up early, got showered and walked out the front door... only to discover 22 degrees and frozen streets.  So the drive over 20 to I-5 was slow and careful.  After we got to I-5, however, the temperatures were above freezing and we had a LONG day of driving with LOTS of holiday traffic.

Got to the hotel and spent a while in the hot tub [which was pretty darn nice].  Ordered Italian (pizza, spaghetti, bread, etc.) because they had a family pack special.  It came missing the bread sticks and the Pepsi -- and it was delivered by a one-armed Chinese man who seemed extra interested in coming inside our room.  Other than that it wasn't too bad.  We had considered ordering Chinese; it would have been epic for a big Italian guy named Luigi to deliver Chinese food.  :D

Anyway, early to bed tonight because we are getting up early for Disneyland.

Disneyland & Universal Studios

Well, it's been a long time coming but we're finally taking a family trip to Disneyland and Universal Studios.  We got a house sitter to watch the animals, got our reservations set, paid for most of the trip, packed up the van tonight and plan to leave first thing in the morning.

We will be posting as many pictures and stories as we can throughout the trip.  Some will be uploaded from the hotel room [thankfully we will have wi-fi in the hotel] and we might even get some posted via telephone.
